Reclines for easy seatbelt access and easy snoozing

The new Toddler SafeSeat (step 2) is one of the only toddler car
seats on the market that reclines while its installed in your vehicle,
and a reclined seat provides you with clear access to the belt path for
correct installation every time. Sleepy baby after a day at the La Jolla
cove?- just recline the seat and let your baby nod off in comfort. It is
fitted with an integrated head pillow for extra support and comfort.
Accommodating children forward-facing 20 to 40 lbs and up to 48” tall,
this seat features an innovative belt lock-off with three shoulder
height positions, which tightly secures the vehicle seatbelt for easy
installation, and a patent-pending, 5-point harness buckle with front
adjustment which makes buckling and unbuckling more pleasant for both
parent and child. It is also equipped with a removable cup holder and
snack tray; it sits up nice and high if your baby wants to see out the
window.

INSTALLATION TIPS FOR THE GRACO TODDLER SAFESEAT
Made sure the Graco SafeSeat 2 is tightly installed in the back seat of
the vehicle, preferably in the center and that the harness fits the
child snugly. Never place a car seat in front of an active air bag.
Don’t be afraid to really exert some force when you’re tightening the
seat belt. Car seats should not move more than 1” in any direction.
Move the shoulder straps to the slots that are at or above your child’s
shoulders. Make sure the straps are level, even and not twisted. If you
can pinch the edges of a strap together between your fingers, the straps
are too loose.
Do not place anything under the harness straps. Place blankets over the
straps, not under them. Do not place heavy jackets, clothing or blankets
on your baby because this bulk keeps the straps from fitting snugly.
The LATCH System: If you have a vehicle manufactured after 2002, simply
feel around the back seat until you find a couple of heavy metal
latches. These are designed to hold the anchors and tethers that come
with the new car seats. Thus, you can now hook a car seat into the back
of a vehicle without utilizing the seat belts. But all the other aspects
of securing the seat still apply, mainly ensuring the straps are all
nice and taut and the seat does not move about.
Some older vehicles (especially those manufactured prior to 1997) may
require the use of the locking clip; the piece of metal that looks like
the letter I on its side. The locking clip is placed into the base seat
through the seat belt; if the car seat begins to move forward when the
brakes are depressed then the clip acts to prevent too much slippage.
